Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez said Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) standard-bearer Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos is the overwhelming favorite of his constituents in the coming May 9 elections.
In an interview with OnePH’s ‘All Politics is Local’ program, Gomez was asked who among the presidential candidates is favored in Ormoc.
“You know what I’m doing here . . . I’m pulsing those barangays we’re going to and I’m saying presidential elections today, I want to know who you want to be president. I take that one by one. Isko, Ping Lacson, Pacquiao, Leni and BBM,” Gomez said.
“BBM is really overwhelming, when I say raise their hand when I mention the names of the candidates, but when you say your name ‘BBM’ and feet are really raised,” he added.
Gomez is running for the congressional seat for the 4th District of Leyte in place of his wife, Lucy Torres-Gomez, who is now running for mayor.
Gomez and his wife have already previously expressed their support for the candidacy of Marcos.
“I like BBM… That’s why when I was interviewed one time, I noticed a lot that when you’re not aligned with a politician, it gets worse. It seems to us Filipinos that it is so ugly that we are upset or upset because of those we choose to be President,” Gomez said.
He also appealed to the public to respect each other’s choice of candidates rather than engage in mudslinging and bullying.
“I say if you have a crush on a president you don’t have to besmirch other people. Campaign well for the candidates you want because we are like that too. Who we want. In my case, I like BBM, I am really campaigning for him here in the 4th district and throughout Leyte,” Gomez said.
Gomez said he no longer pays attention to others who criticize him for supporting Marcos.
