The Department of Budget and Management yesterday released P3 billion in fuel subsidy for qualified public transportation drivers and agricultural workers.
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board it will begin distributing fuel subsidies to public utility vehicles (PUV) drivers and operators next week.
Covered by the P2.5 billion fuel subsidy program of the Department of Transportation are PUV drivers who are operating jeepneys, UV express, taxis, tricycles, and other full-time ride-hailing and delivery services nationwide.
Some 377,443 PUV drivers will receive fuel vouchers worth P6,500 each next week through the LandBank of the Philippines.
On the other hand, the Department of Agriculture will distribute P500 million in fuel discounts at a maximum of P3,000 each to farmers and fisherfolk who either individually own and operate agricultural and fishery machinery or operate through a farmers’ organization or cooperative.
