The RP-Mission and Development Foundation Inc. (RPMD) said Mayors Joy Belmonte of Quezon City, Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso of Manila, and Toby Tiangco of Navotas were the local executives in the National Capital Region with the highest approval rating.
Based on its latest non-commissioned poll that had a margin of error of +/- 3 percent, Belmonte, Domagoso, and Tiangco were statistically tied with the highest approval rating among NCR mayors at 81 percent, 80 percent, and 78 percent, respectively.
They were followed by Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto (77 percent), Caloocan City Mayor Oca Malapitan (75 percent), Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano (73 percent), Mandaluyong City Mayor Menchie Abalos (71 percent), Makati City Mayor Abby Binay (70 percent), Marikina City Mayor Marcy Teodoro (68 percent), San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora (66 percent), and Taguig City Mayor Lino Cayetano (64 percent).
Rounding up the list were Rex Gatchalian of Valenzuela (62 percent), Jaime Fresnedi of Muntinlupa (57 percent), Edwin Olivarez of Parañaque (55 percent), Imelda Aguilar of Las Piñas (54 percent), Ike Ponce of Pateros (52 percent) and Lenlen Oreta of Malabon (51 percent).
The survey was based on face-to-face interviews conducted from February 22 to 28, 2022.
“The ratings and rankings are greatly dependent on their job performances. The expectations and duties of the mayors are extensive that encompass several roles being the local chief executive – supervising and implementing all policies and programs, projects, and services of the LGU. Most importantly, addressing and responding to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Paul Martinez, executive director of RPMD.
