Aksyon Demokratiko standard-bearer Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso has gained the backing of workers and transport groups under the Labor Power Movement which actively campaigned for President Rodrigo Duterte in 2016.

The 200,000 strong Labor Power Movement announced their all-out support for Moreno during a press conference held at the Team Isko-Doc Willie campaign headquarters in Intramuros, Manila.

The LPM is composed of the Bus Transport Workers Alliance (BTWA), Alliance of Genuine Labor Organizations (AGLO), and National Confederation of Labor (NCL).

Around 200 leaders of the three labor groups under the LPM assembled in front of the Manila Cathedral before marching towards the Team Isko-Doc Willie campaign headquarters before noon Monday.

Domagoso happily acknowledged the support of the three labor groups under the Labor Power Movement and thanked their leaders and members from all over Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

“This symbolic presence of yours, all of you who are here and your leadership who are here, I thank you and I hope that you, about 200,000 of you all over the country, are solid and ready to switch to Isko, as your t-shirts say. Thank you very much,” he said.

“With your help, we are getting stronger and stronger now, and we are getting more and more and more and more people are getting brighter and the dust is subsiding and people are seeing the real, little by little, color of the candidates,” he added.

Eduardo Laurencio, the secretary-general AGLO, said they are fully-backing Domagoso’s bid to become the next president because of his “Bilis Kilos” approach to building local government projects such as hospitals, schools, and housing for the poor.

Being a member of the Mayor Rodrigo Roa Duterte-National Executive Coordinating Committee (MRRD-NECC), Laurencio said they previously conducted a thorough study on the candidates running for the highest position in the land and who among them will fight and care for the rights of the workers.

“Why Isko? Because he will continue Build, Build, Build. So, we saw in our range that we needed a young person who acts fast. We don’t want a `trapo’ (traditional politician) anymore. The more we experience, the more we are with People Power. For a few years we thought the system here in the Philippines would change forever. So, today we declare the Labor Power Movement an all-out Isko for President,” Laurencio said.
