Manila’s last lung Gallery After several days of redevelopment, the 2.2 hectares of Arroceros Urban Forest is now open to the public. The forest in the middle of urban Manila considered the last of Manila is now complete with walkways, exhibit area, fish ponds, footbridges, newly installed benches, various ornamental plants, and a view deck at the Pasig riverside and a coffeeshop. The place was officially inaugurated by Manila Mayor Isko Moreno last week. In 2022 several common urban birds have been recorded in the park such as the Zebra dove, Yellow-vented Bulbul, Pacific Swallow, while Whiskered Tern and Little Egret were seen. Over the years as the trees matured, flowered, bore fruits and repopulated the park, the undergrowth flourished and attracted more bird species, butterflies and other insects. Today, 32 birds species have been recorded in the park including Philippine Pygmy Woodpecker, Collared Kingfisher, Black-naped Oriole and even Large-billed crow. The park is open from 8 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon Monday to Sunday.
