Bangsamoro government celebrates third founding anniversary

Cotabato City—The Bangsamoro Government celebrated its third founding anniversary in week-long activities that culminated on Friday.

It can be recalled that constituents of five Mindanao provinces and two cities voted to be part of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) on January 29, 2019. Days after, residents of 63 villages in North Cotabato also decided to join the expanded autonomous region.

Senior Minister Abdulraof Macacua, speaking for Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Al-Hadj Murad Ibrahim, said this year’s theme, “Changing People’s Lives, Transforming the Bangsamoro: Celebrating and Sustaining the Gains of Peace and Moral Governance,” highlighted the “three-year quantum leap of the regional government in achieving peace and development.”
Activities, Macacua said, were in place from ongoing programs and projects of BARMM’s different ministries.

For one, Minister Naguib Sinarimbo said the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) hosted the Governance Day on Wednesday featuring a half-day “Ugnay Talakayan.”

A forum on Muslim governance was much engaging with BARMM constituents in the fields of management and “administration of fiscal and local autonomy, and in effect, harmonizing policies in the national and the regional governance as well as in the local government units, officials noted.

The MILG recognized LGUs for homegrown good practices distinct from each other, from the quality of municipal leadership, and administrative and operational management to the front-line services staff Local chief executives of the winning LGUs said innovative practices build constituency-based partnerships in efforts to achieve quality governance.

MILG featured innovative practices adopted and implemented at LGU levels as the main event in the Ugnay Kaalaman: Showcasing Innovative Practices of the Bangsamoro Sinarimbo said the exhibit showcased the innovative practices of the 2020-2021 LGU Grant Assistance for Innovative Practices (LGAIP) awardees which enabled these municipalities to demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness, proving competency in government organization, as well.

The BARMM-MILG hosted the “Pagkilala Awarding Ceremony” for BARMM LGUs in which LGUs, local leaders, good practices, and innovations that have shown outstanding commitment and have delivered results were honored.
