Louisiana’s famous Cajun-style food chain Popeyes ended 2019 with seven branches, and welcomed the first week of 2020 with the opening of its eighth and ninth branches.
After opening its first outlet at ArcoVia City in Pasig in May, the beloved fast food then popped at Alabang Town Center, SM San Lazaro, and SM Manila.
A few months later, Popeyes chicken on Nov. 25 last year spread its wings at the National University Mall of Asia in Pasay City.
During the launch, Kuya J Group marketing director Ton Gatmaitan said, “This is our fifth store here in Metro Manila and the first in Pasay City. Now, students, employees, and shoppers don’t have to travel so far to enjoy our delicious offerings.”
Must-try items at Popeyes include the Cajun-style fried chicken, honey biscuits, shrimp and fish burgers, and Cajun fries. Other diners’ favorites are hazelnut and white chocolate biscuits, as well as the Popeyes spaghetti, which is exclusive to the chain’s branches in the Philippines.
A big crowd flocked to the NU Mall of Asia during the opening to feast on its signature juicy—but not greasy—Popeyes fried chicken packed with distinct Cajun-inspired flavors from Louisiana, USA.
To take it up a notch, diners can replace the usual gravy and instead pair their chicken with a dash of honey, for a sweet and salty combination.
Before closing 2019, it then had a back-to-back opening at Eastwood City Walk on Dec. 18 and at Robinsons Galleria on Dec. 19.
January is a big month, with Popeyes doing a double launch on the third day of 2020. The fast food chain opened its branches at Ali Mall in Cubao, Quezon City and at SM Southmall in Las Piñas.
On Jan. 6, Popeyes is opening its tenth store at Kroma Tower in Legazpi Village, Makati.
