Oil firms to hike pump prices by P1.10/liter

Motorists can expect another round of pump price increase on Tuesday for the second consecutive week this year, according to projections by Unioil Petroleum Philippines.

In its fuel forecast for the Jan. 10 to 17 trading week, Unioil said the price per liter of diesel may increase by P1 to P1.10.

Gasoline prices, on the other hand, may go up by P0.70 to P0.80 per liter.

Oil companies usually announce price adjustments on fuel products every Monday, to be implemented on the following day.

On Jan. 4, oil firms increased prices per liter of gasoline by P1.85, diesel by P2.40, and kerosene by P1.85.

Data from the Department of Energy showed that last year’s adjustments stood at a total net increase of P17.85 per liter for gasoline, P14.95 per liter for diesel, and P12.39 per liter for kerosene as of December 21.

Meanwhile, bread makers are seeking an increase in the price of their products, including Pinoy Tasty and Pinoy Pandesal.

Philbaking President Johnlu Koa said flour prices have already gone up from P710 per sack to P995.

Koa said should the proposed price increase be approved after January 15, it can be implemented in three tranches of around P2 per pack.

Pinoy Tasty is sold at P35 per pack, while Pinoy Pandesal is sold atP21.50 per 10 pieces.
