Stars to watch in 2022
The previous year introduced us to a few names that even we’re in the middle of a pandemic and showbiz projects are limited, they still made a mark and instantly grabbed our attention.
As we enter 2022, we are listing down a batch of new hope in the entertainment sector courtesy of promising young blood who are more than their spanking personas.
Belle Mariano
The Philippine’s answer to Meteor Garden’s Shan Chai is outright charming, a true-blue damsel that knows how to deal with her distress and can be the girl next door or the young miss that makes your heart scream and shout. Her starlight will surely be breathtakingly bright.
Jeremiah Lisbo
Yes, he is the Hua Ze Lei in She’s Into Her. This tall and good-looking actor is perfect for any romantic lead. With a to die for body, he is the better partner for Belle M. Lisbo is not too squeaky clean but he’s the perfect combo of hotness and handsomeness that most girls want and most men envy.
Vince Rillon
He is a protégé of Palme d’Or winning film master Brillante Mendoza. Vince, who considers himself an accidental actor, shines in whatever role given to him. With seven projects lined up for him, this rising star is out to prove that he is ready for the acting A-game.
Barbara Miguel and Therese Malvar
To say that these two misses are superlative actresses is an understatement. Miguel makes a mark as the mentally challenged sister in Walker, while Malvar shows that she is every inch the actress of note in the forthcoming Broken Blooms opposite Jeric Gonzales. Yes, Miguel and Malvar are the Nora Aunor and Vilma Santos of their generation.
Alonzo Rafael Eliquin and Alec Kevin Rigonan
More popularly known as Ali King and Alec Kevin, the two baby-talked their way to BL stardom in what people viewed as the Dear Heart of the boys love genre with Boy’s Lockdown. Now, the two are out to prove that they are indeed the Gen Z versions of Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion in “BL Love Team.” When you hear the thoughts of King that said “Totoo na ‘to” and Kevin’s “I have feelings” with a twinkle in their eyes when they look at each other, boy oh boy, this spells kilig to the bones!
Rans Rifol
She is one of the big winners in the recently concluded Metro Manila Film Festival. This newcomer bagged the best supporting actress trophy for her performance as Daniel Padilla’s love interest in Kung Matupag Man It Panahon. Anyone who can hold her artistic and creative candle to the relatively young superstar and aching for dramatic recognition Padilla and the first lady of Philippine entertainment, Charo Santos-Concio, deserves to be on this list.
Juan Carlos Galano
Everything about this single brown Filipino male underwear and commercial model screams “matinee idol.” He had an impressive screen debut in Nelia, his photos clad only in the skimpiest of undergarments that flood social media get the love and appreciation from fairies, ladies, and men who sex with other men. What makes him a standout is his “Pinoy na Pinoy” features and the fact that he is tall, adds more guapo points to him.
Mariane Osabel
After several attempts to create a singing sensation and superstar, it seems that The Clash finally found “The One” to fulfill its ambition. Mariane, dubbed as the Ultimate Siren from Iligan, sang her rendition of Harish Joya’s “Bakit Mahal Pa Rin Kita,” which reminded listeners of the classic songs from the jukebox era where mush plus a big, dramatic voice that hits the highest notes with ease equals gold.
Andrew Gan
His performance as Jethro in the surprise BL hit Limited Edition earns him a soft and cuddly spot in the pink community. With a good physique, a speaking voice filled with authority and sincerity, and a man/boy vibe that makes many a heart flutter, Gan guns his way to full-fledged stardom.
Joaquin Domagoso, Andi Abaya, Bamboo B, and Jhassy Busran
They are four promising teen stars, whose fresh and exciting performances, made their movie an engaging watch. Domagaso, if the Lady of Destiny and Lady Luck smiled at his dad, First Son might be his most appropriate title. Abaya is a pretty young miss that reminds you of a youngish Love Marie Ongpauco and Dawn Zulueta but has a bubbly personality and stellar wattage that is her very own. Bamboo is a natural charmer and Busran has what it takes to become a bida/kontrabida with her gift of gab and true Pinay beauty.
