Ballet Philippines marks its 50th anniversary with the launch of the coffee table book Alice Reyes & Ballet Philippines: A 50-Year Legacy in Dance.
The new volume, published under ABS-CBN Books, casts a spotlight upon National Artist for Dance Alice Reyes, who founded Ballet Philippines and is now back as its artistic director.
It features seven personal essays that trace the legacy of Reyes, who started Ballet Philippines back in 1969, and serve as a testament to her pioneering vision that gave birth to a professional dance company known all over the country and abroad for its brilliant fusion of ballet and modern dance.
Alice Reyes & Ballet Philippines also chronicles the yesteryears of the premier ballet company with photographs of impressive shows that have been produced since it started out as a summer dance workshop at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
Moreover, it pays tribute to former artistic directors, who have all helped inspire and shape the cultural institution into what it is today, and celebrates the craft that artists have mastered and generously shared to the world.
Alice Reyes & Ballet Philippines: A 50-Year Legacy in Dance will be available soon in leading bookstores.
