BTS leader RM will collaborate with the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA), becoming the first K-pop artist to curate an exhibition since the museum’s founding.
On Friday, Oct. 3, SFMOMA announced that it will present a special exhibition titled “RM x SFMOMA,” which will run from October 2026 to February 2027. The exhibit will feature more than 200 works, including pieces from RM’s personal art collection and selections from the museum’s own holdings.
The show will explore the connection between the visual and conceptual themes of both collections, highlighting RM’s curatorial vision and collecting philosophy. RM will also participate directly as a guest curator, shaping how the works are presented to visitors.

“This exhibition becomes a space to reflect on the boundaries between East and West, Korea and the United States, modern and contemporary, the individual and the universal,” RM said in a statement.
Janet Bishop, SFMOMA’s chief curator, said the collaboration offers an unprecedented opportunity to view RM’s “beautiful and contemplative” collection alongside the museum’s.
RM’s collection includes works by leading Korean and international artists, many of which will be displayed publicly for the first time.
