In the hustle and bustle of city life, it is always hard to find a place where you can just breathe and slow down.
After a whole day of being trapped inside the cold hard white walls of its huge department stores, it was quite a surprise as we stumbled upon a quaint amusement park right outside the mall’s buildings.
A soft ballad melody can be heard across the park as we walked and wondered the stalls – its mouthwatering smell of fried foods, spices tingling and teasing the nose; the kiosks enticing the passive on-lookers to play their games, luring them with their booming grand prizes.
As we move along, the fresh ocean breeze makes the weather cool and easy to stroll to during humid summer nights, with just a hint of its saltiness lingering in the air; the calm tides of the sea, almost like a lullaby, a comfy blanket to tuck you in and keep you warm and cozy at night.
The Eye Ride, despite not being as tall as the one in London, but still looming and intimidating as ever, has this quiet proud stance that could not help one but admire its white flashing lights that the Ferris wheel entails. It makes one realize how we are all small insignificant creatures in this current temporary place we are living of.
On the other side, the bright neon signs, highly saturated multi-colored lights truly captivate the children to its sights, as their giggles and laughter could be heard as they play along with other kids, their parents at the fair rides.
While people are mostly enjoying the peace and quiet, perched along the sidewalk; bursts of high-pitch screaming pierce the night as people shut their eyes, yell, and enjoy the thrilling fun that the spine-shivering rides provide them with.
So if ever you’re in SM Mall of Asia and in need of a quick change of pace, just walk right across the mall and onto Seaside Boulevard where you can relax for a while and have a bit of time to reflect.
