Authorities arrested a female American traveler who was caught hiding a six-day-old baby in her bag at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport early Wednesday morning.
Immigration officials at NAIA Terminal 3 immediately turned over 42-year- old Jennifer Erin Talbot, of Ohio, USA, to the National Bureau of Investigation for proper investigation while the baby is now in the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
The authorities said the baby was found hidden in the oversized belt bag of Talbot. They said the foreigner also did not declare nor inform the inspector assigned at the Immigration departure area about the infant.
Employees of Delta Airlines initially discovered the baby inside Talbot’s belt bag while she was about to check in for her flight bound for the United States.
Talbot claimed she was the aunt of the child but Immigration officials said she had no documents, travel authority to bring, a ticket or any information to prove this, not even a passport of the baby.
