Milo gets back at Estefano as Riveras dominate national slalom’s 7th stage

The 2019 Phoenix National Slalom Series returned to the Robinsons Novaliches Sports Complex last Aug. 25 for its 7th Leg and at the end of the race, a Rivera once again finished on the top step.

But this time, it wasn’t current championship leader Estefano, but rather, it was the five-time reigning champion, his elder brother Milo of Petron Motorsports-Federal Tyres, who came out on top in the series organized by Race Motorsports.

Ever since focusing on his circuit-racing stint this year, Milo has been absent in several slalom races, but made a surprise visit last Sunday and stamped his authority with a 52.50-second winning time using Estefano’s car.

His younger brother finished second with a 53.80, while 2018 Novice Slalom Champion Powee Base completed the Top 3 with a 54.70 result.

The result further extended Estefano’s overall championship lead over Base with only five legs remaining, with the Obengers Racing ace aiming to keep the slalom crown within the family.

It will also serve as a good warm-up race for Estefano as he leaves for Korea this week to represent the Philippines for the second leg of the 2019 Asian Auto Gymkhana Championship.
