Bagatsing, a former city councilor and grandchild of the late former city Mayor Ramon Bagatsing, expressed belief that Manila is now on its way to its what he described as “boom years” because of the sincerity and political will of the new city chief executive.

“Roads are like arteries to the lungs. You clear it, you let the city breathe, trade and commerce will flourish. In spite of all the criticisms, it’s the right thing to do,” he said.

Bagatsing said city hall workers have to “catch up to Mayor Isko’s energy and this is good because the rank and file city employees haven’t encountered this type of leadership in more than 10 years.”

He also expressed confidence that businessmen will invest in Manila especially now that it has a young leader who is transparent, dynamic and bent on cutting red tape at city hall and eliminating unscrupulous individuals.

Domagoso cleared up the busy streets of the country’s capital and moved to restore its cultural heritage days after he assumed office, Bagatsing noted.

Moreno’s first move as mayor was to clear the chaotic commercial area of Divisoria, then the busy streets of Quiapo, Rizal Avenue, Carriedo, Recto Avenue and Blumentrit the next few days, he added.
