Automation is the key: PCSO held Orientation to ASAs for SMS Portal

The use of spreadsheets in generating reports is a mainspring of a day to day office operations and fundamental activities in making strategic decisions. However, generating effective reports can be a painful process for one’s team, especially technology is fast pacing. Many core applications like General Ledgers and manual reporting systems require manual or human intervention to compile reports.

Automation will assist in generating reports, reducing the possibility of errors, delivering and organizing reports more efficiently.

Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) held a 2-day orientation and training for Authorized STL Agents on the Small Town Lottery (STL) Monitoring System or SMS on 24th and 25th of June 2019 in Mandaluyong City. There were four (4) sessions held during the 2-day seminar for Northern and Central Luzon (NCL), Southern Tagalog and Bicol Region (STBR)/National Capital Region (NCR), Visayas and Mindanao Region.

Present were PCSO Chairperson and Interim General Manager Anselmo Simeon P. Pinili, Board Secretary Atty. Wesley A. Barayuga, Executive Assistants VI Angelo de Leon and Sharon Marasigan, NCL Department Manager (DM) Laila D. Galang, STBR OIC-DM Irma S. Guermo, NCR DM Ma. Teresita V. Carbonel and Information Technology Services Department OIC DM Rene M. Relucio.

Also present were the members of PCSO SMS Portal Software Development team Jodel Dacer, Marvin Virgen, Louie Tenorio, Jonathan Noguera, and Brian Villaflores.

During the training/orientation activity, it was elucidated to the participants that the SMS Portal is a web-based application that offers real-time monitoring of all ASAs sales and remittances. The orientation also provided the demonstration of how to use the application – from logging in to the generation of reports such as daily sales and remittance and the benefits and value of the application.

The automation of PCSO operations has been one of the thrusts of the Chairman and Interim General Manager Pinili since his appointment into office in 2018.
