Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III said the chairman of state-run Government Service Insurance System Rolando Macasaet could be the possible replacement to former president and general manager Jesus Clint Aranas, who quit his post Tuesday.
When asked on Wednesday if Macasaet could be the potential replacement for Aranas, Dominguez just replied “possible.” But when asked again if he would recommend Macasaet to the President, Dominguez did not reply.
Aranas resigned due to “personal reasons.”
Aranas’ resignation came following reports on the Commission on Audit’s order on the GSIS to refund P260.5 million in incentives given by the pension fund’s management to its employees, calling them “illegal expenditures.”
The GSIS under Aranas leadership was also in disagreement with the International Container Terminal Services Inc. over planned sale of a 672,645-square meter property at the Manila North Harbor, which is operated by the ICTSI.
ICTSI had questioned the plan, saying it would hamper its operations at the site.
