Subic International Golf Club is known for its lush green fields, pristine courses, and high-end amenities. But did you know that within the club lies a global experience in cuisine?
From Asian to European, to the Mediterranean, the restaurant has it all. Allow me to take you on a food tour.
The Subic International Golf Club Restaurant has different meals that have been popular among many Filipinos. They serve traditional "silog" breakfast sets like Tapsilog and Tocilog.
Like most tapsilog, this has the basics— beef tapa, steamed garlic rice, and two sunny-side up eggs. The beef has a rich flavor with its tenderness balancing its sweetness and saltiness. To top it off, the two sunny-side up eggs topped with parsley give it a creamy and soft texture.
Their tocilog, the famous silog with sweetened cured pork belly, has the right hint of saltiness. Its meat is very soft and juicy. Besides being served with two sunny-side-up eggs, this meal is topped with garlic bits and atchara with a lemon beside it.
Another Filipino favorite dish is also available on their menu—Chicken Adobo. Their adobo is cooked to perfection with the right blend and use of soy sauce and vinegar. One thing that strikes out is the fluffiest of the egg topped with parsley. It is being served with mixed veggies and a lemon beside it. The garlic rice gets extra points for being nicely moist which enhances the taste of adobo.
Aside from these Filipino dishes, the SIGC Restaurant also has its best-selling Japanese Curry. According to their manager, most of the ingredients are imported from Japan in order to provide an uncompromised Japanese curry experience. The curry is very tender and its flavour has this transition between the initial sweetness and the spice kick at the end. It is being served with mushroom and veggies like carrots, potatoes, eggplant, and broccoli.
Let’s go over to Spain where the famous Gambas is served— a shrimp appetizer flavoured with olive oil and garlic that will surely leave you wanting more. The shrimp is very tender with a crunchy pop and its sweetness matches the garlic aroma of it.
They also serve the famous Bolognese of Italy which has an excellent pasta sauce with minced beef and pork, and small slices of tomatoes. The sourness of the tomato compliments the sweetness of the pasta as well as the thickness of its sauce. It also goes perfectly with a piece of bread.
Another dish on their menu is called Hamburg Steak. It is being served with a sunny side up egg, onions, string beans, bell pepper, and carrot strips. The meat is juicy which goes perfectly with the rich sauce and it melts in your mouth.
There are other dishes that you could try such as their house salad, country club burger, and pate con capesante.
If you want to have a taste of the world, then all you have to do is travel a few kilometers to have it.
