Top seed China knocked the Philippines out of contention yesterday in the women’s quarterfinals of the 2019 FIBA 3X3 Under-18 World Cup in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
The Gilas Pilipinas Girls’ 3×3 teams took a 12-21 loss with 22.7 seconds to go in the race-to-21 contest.
With the setback, the Philippines will most likely fall to eighth place.
It was the trio of Xianglin Wu, Bei Liu, and Zhou He who got China off to a hot start and into a 5-0 lead.

With 22.7 seconds remaining, Xianglin Wu found a wide-open Bei Liu for the game-sealing basket to end the Philippines’ campaign.
China, which will now await the winner of the Japan-New Zealand match in the semis, got 12 points from He.
