Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. is optimistic about its investment in Thailand as traffic growth remained strong, a top executive said over the weekend.
“It’s good. It’s earning very well. It’s [Thailand] one of the solid contributors to our performance,” MPTC president and chief executive Rodrigo Franco said.
MPTC owns a 29.5-percent stake in Don Muang Tollway Public Co. Ltd., a major toll road operator in Bangkok.
The concession for DMT runs until 2034 for the operation of a 21.9-kilometer six-lane elevated toll road from central Bangkok to Don Muang International Airport and further north to the National Monument.
Bangkok reported a 2-percent increase in daily traffic to 99,479 vehicles in 2018.
Franco said MPTC was also looking at opportunities in Vietnam and Indonesia. “We think there’s still a lot of opportunities outside the country. We think there’s still a lot of opportunities in Indonesia and Vietnam,” he said.
