NCH Corp., a global leader in industrial and commercial maintenance products and services since 1919, is celebrating its 100th anniversary focusing on “giving back” and completing 100 community service projects worldwide by yearend.
The US company is promoting volunteerism and asked employees from 50 countries to volunteer their time with at least two organizations in honor of NCH’s 100th anniversary.
NCH Philippines joins the entire NCH family in the celebration and has lined up activities to attain the company’s goal.
“NCH Cares is one of the biggest worldwide corporate social responsibility projects of NCH Corp. in its history. NCH launched a collective effort for all its 55 subsidiaries worldwide to contribute and actively volunteer for two SR programs to 100 non-profit organizations. Its goal is to have a historic 100 community service projects completed by the end of 2019,” NCH Philippines chief executive Rod Arellano said.
The company is rolling out 100 seeding preparation at the Haribon Foundation’s Buhay Punlaan and is planting 100 trees.
“NCH Philippines believes in giving, sharing and supporting. We have organized volunteer service for several orphanages. During severe calamities, we offer our products free of charge and even with our customers, we make sure we are good partners through good and bad weather,” Arellano said.
Arellano said CSR activities are very important for NCH, as more than 30 community service projects have already been undertaken by NCH companies in different regions like the US and South America, Europe and Asia in the first quarter alone, with over 100 hours of services.
In Thailand, NCH in cooperation with Foundation for Environmental Education for Sustainable Development Thailand, organized Mangrove Reforestation activity in January at Bangpu Recreation Center, Samut Prakarn Province, Thailand.
The Mangrove reforestation involved 60 employees who participated and united their efforts in cultivating 180 mangrove trees which are expected to restore the forest. The trees would protect the area from drought and flood.
NCH is founded by businessman Milton Levy in 1919. Levy’s three sons—Lester, Milton Jr. and Irvin—started working in the company warehouse and shipping areas as teenagers. Today, NCH distributes to more than 50 countries with an extensive and varied product line. The leadership of the company remains in the hands of the Levy family, descendants of the founder.
The company has been providing effective, excellent and environment-friendly products, good and honest business practice on the walls of all NCH offices over the world for the past 100 years and “this company exists because of its people,” Arellano said.
“Operating in different countries with different environments and cultures is finding that people need the same thing—everyone needs a degreaser, everyone needs lubricants but the key is being a reliable company that provides solutions that meet local and international standards,” Arellano said.

Arellano said NCH is excited about prospects for the future after reaching the 100-year milestone this year.
“We will make NCH the one-stop shop for cleaning water, conserving energy, maintaining equipment in the next 100 years,” he said.
He said NCH Philippines is also looking at expansion opportunities in the Philippines, confident of the country’s continued economic growth.
“We intend to put up a satellite plant in Davao City for this fiscal year to serve the growing number of customers in the southern part of the Philippines,” Arellano said.
