Rhoel Ladera, the group’s vice president, said they provided medical consultations and circumcisions.

Known as the “Angels on Wheels” in the region, NNP-EV brought at least 14 vehicles loaded with medical supplies and traveled eight hours from Maasin City and Sogod in Southern Leyte on Saturday for the outreach activity.

Ladera thanked the group’s members and other individuals who donated medicine and financial help for their mission.

They were joined by family members and volunteer nurses for the humanitarian activity.

The group led by engineer Adroel Octaviano also donated medicines to the local government unit through Mayor Gerardo Miranda.

Ladera said for their next outreach program, they will be giving school supplies to indigenous people and students in St. Bernard, Southern Leyte on the first week of June.

He also attributed the success of their medical mission to all NNP-EV members; Glenn Alcera, area representative for Northern Samar; NNP-EV member-doctors Erwin Dhan Ladan and Mark Gatela; volunteer doctors Patricia Montejo, Jay Elle Gatela, Isagani Artoza; the Northern Samar Provincial Health Office medical team; and the Rosario Rural Health Unit.

The group thanked the security assistance from Rosario Municipal Police Station led by Police Captain Elias Ero, the town’s chief of police.

“We intend to make use of our vehicle to be able to go to inaccessible areas in the province so we can help and make a small difference. Rather than use our asset for ‘porma-porma,’ we want to utilize it and help far-flung communities,” said Ladera.

The group’s members are mostly survivors of the 2013 Super Typhoon “Yolanda” and wished to return the favor to those who need their help.

A fifth-class municipality, Rosario is some 266 kilometers away from Tacloban City.

In August and November last year, the auto group donated a total of 254 rain boots to all students at Sulpa National High School in Villaba, Leyte and food and school supplies to 125 indigent residents mostly from the Manobo and Mamanwa tribal groups in the upland village of Almeria, Biliran Island.
