Actor Jason Abalos pays tribute to the late Kristoffer King today in Wish Ko Lang.
Like the characters he portrayed in films and TV shows, Kristoffer’s life behind the camera was colorful. Many were shocked when the actor passed away last February at the age of 36, leaving behind him five children.
At 17, Kristoffer became a father, prompting him to stop schooling to raise his family. He worked as a back-up dancer until he was offered to be a macho dancer. Dancing on stage became his world.
It seemed fate was really testing him. Kristoffer found out that his first born had a condition called Hunter Syndrome, affecting the growth of the child. To make matters worse, two of his five kids turned out to have this condition.
Realizing that his earnings were not enough to support his family, Kristoffer looked for other sources of income. He tried his luck at showbiz as an extra, not minding the steamy scenes he had to act out. Slowly, Kristoffer begun to get noticed in the ‘indie’ or independent films scene. He got the nod of some of the veteran directors and eventually was recognized as Best Actor for a role and earned more awards.
But it seems Kristoffer’s life on earth is short. The actor apparently had diabetes. But because he wanted to provide for his family first and given his financial problems, he was not able to properly address his condition.
