Kris Bernal in her most daring project to dateKris Bernal is happy and excited with the turnout of her maiden indie project titled, Kontradiksyon under Bell Films which she just finished shooting.

“The character is very new to me. It’s far different from the previous roles I played in the past. In the story, I’m a call center agent who sells illegal drugs. She does this to make money although it’s against her principle.”

For the first time, she is paired with actor Jake Cuenca, who plays a government agent in the film.

“I only have good words for him. He’s a good performer and is very professional,” she said.

Kris shares that at first, she got intimidated with her Kapamilya co-star especially during the initial shooting days.

“I don’t really know him. Let’s face it, apart from his considerable acting skills, Jake’s also a looker. Add to this the fact that he comes from the rival network. But as I’ve said, the good thing about him is that he’s kind and supportive. He made me comfortable in our scenes together,” shared Kris.

She and Jake have intimate scenes in the movie, and Kris admitted that she had some challenges doing the scenes. Interestingly, even if she already figured in lots of kissing scenes and love scenes in her previous screen outings, the petite star still felt nervous.

“I feel awkward doing passionate scenes. I don’t feel comfortable. Every time there’s a required love scene in my projects, I really get nervous as to how to do it realistically. I told our director (Niel de Mesa) about my limitations: first, I don’t like to moan, next, I don’t want to figure in a pumping scene and last, I don’t want to expose my bosom. It’s good he understood and just like what I’ve mentioned earlier, Jake was very professional and supportive in such scenes.”

So far, Kris considers Kontradiksyon as her most mature and daring project to date.

“I’ve already done lots of mature roles on TV but generally, they’re still conservative. Here, I have scenes in which I was just wearing sports bra or lingerie. Some quarters say that I’m not getting any younger and I should do more mature roles now. I can say that Kontradiksyon is a good start. It’s a good challenge to my growing range as an actress.”

Kris is grateful to be given another crack at headlining a potboiler. Her last big screen project was Regal Entertainment’s Nandito Ako…Nagmamahal Sa ‘Yo in 2009 where she shared stellar billing with Aljur Abrenica.

Rayver Cruz feels so elated that his first soap after inking a contract with GMA Asawa Ko, Karibal Ko is presently doing well in the ratings chart.

“Of course, it brings joy to my heart. Who wants that his maiden show has lukewarm results, right? I’m glad that the show is well-received by viewers,” he states.

Rayver admits that before the show started airing, he also had fears.

“I guess, that’s just natural. You’ll have jitters if the program will rate. But you know, you just have to trust the process, the story, and the whole team. There are the writers, our director and of course, my two leading ladies, Kris (Bernal) and Thea (Tolentino) who are splendid actresses. It’s really heart-warming to read the tweets and comments of the public. It’s so encouraging.”

According to the former Kapamilya star, he feels more inspired to work given these positives in their soap.

“The more it motivates me to give it my best shot. It’s inspiring to act and do good scenes for the viewers. They should not miss the upcoming episodes,” he ends.
