Right numbers, wrong game

A woman bettor was so close to taking home the grand prize of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office’s Ultra Lotto 6/58, at that point with a jackpot of P900 million.

The woman, identified as Marivic Reynon, had the winning six numbers–but the problem was she placed her bet on the wrong lotto game.

The woman’s niece May Crisolo shared the sad tale on Facebook on Sunday. Her post of the lotto ticket has since gone viral.

“It’s like money that became stone,” she wrote in Filipino on her caption.

Crisolo told Coconuts Manila through a Facebook message that her aunt Marivic was the unlucky bettor.

“She called me. She couldn’t stop crying and then she sent us that picture,” Crisolo said in Filipino.

Crisolo said Reynon placed her bet on Oct. 4 at the SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City, and the Ultra Lotto 6/58 results came out on Oct. 5.

The six winning numbers for the Ultra Lotto 6/58 draw were: 01-30-27-36-49-12.

Reynon had the numbers in this order: 01-12-27-30-36-49. But Reynon placed her numbers on the Super Lotto 6/49.

The PCSO has several lotto games like the Ultra Lotto 6/58, Grand Lotto 6/55, Super Lotto 6/49, Mega Lotto 6/45, and Lotto 6/42 among others, which is probably why Reynon got confused.

The winning numbers for the Super Lotto 6/49 game Reynon joined, which had a jackpot prize of over P90 million, were: 36-30-01-09-06-22.

She got 01, 30 and 36 right. The standard prize for getting three winning numbers is P20.

Crisolo’s Facebook post had over 16,200 shares and 6,500 likes as of the article’s posting.
