Paolo Duterte to run for Congress, Sara says

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said his brother, former Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte will run for congressmen in the midterm elections next year.

Duterte-Carpio made the revelation, even as she denied that she is running for a Senate seat.

Instead, the feisty mayor said she will seek re-election as chief executive of the city despite a recent survey showing her to be among the top 12 preferred potential senatorial candidates in a recent Pulse Asia survey.

“I am honored and overwhelmed by the trust of the people but I will run as mayor this coming election,” she said.
