In the age when almost everything has gone digital, parents have become more concerned on the adverse impacts of video games and electronic gadgets on their children.
A group of young style trendsetters, all recent graduates of Fashion and Design Merchandising program of the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, aims to break kids’ unhealthy dependence on technology and bring back how children used to play.
Jenilee Salud, Trenzi Navarro, Merielle Soliman, Victoria Aldaba, and Dianne Concepcion, created a 13-piece children’s wear collection that blends the amusement brought by arcade games with the charms of kids’ clothing.
Dubbed Arkids, the collection features high-street pieces showcasing interactive activities such as the classic Tic-Tac-Toe, Connect Four, Target, Tetris, Fishing Game, and Basketball. It likewise features iconic characters such as Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, and Little Mermaid. To add to the fun, safe versions of Lego, Slime, Jibbitz, and Polymer molded clay are created as playful accessories.
Crafted from chemical-free fabrics in cheerful pastels and bold neon colors, Arkids meets any parent’s requirement for trendy yet comfortable clothes for children aged two to 12 years old.
