St. Joseph blasts St. Michael, 88-54

Aldrin Catiis provided the needed firepower for the St. Joseph College of Bulacan Taurus, who blasted St. Michael College of Laguna, 88-54, over the weekend in the 16th Fr. Martin Cup Division 2 basketball tournament.

This allowed the Taurus to remain unbeaten after three matches, and move a game ahead of First City Providential School of Bulacan, and the Chiang Kai Shek Blue Dragons when action ended at the St. Placid gymnasium inside San Beda-Manila campus in Mendiola.

Catiis shot 15 points, including three big triples in the third period, to help the Taurus post their third straight win in the junior division games at the St. Placid gymnasium inside San Beda-Manila campus in Mendiola.

The 5’9” Catiis’ treys, along with baskets from John Romero and Renato Adriano allowed the Taurus to move out of range when the fourth quarter came around, 67-39.

Dale Pimentel topcored for 18 points for FCPS when they trounced San Beda-Taytay, 96-68, to earn their second consecutive triumph with Blue Dragons, while La Consolacion College turned back Paco Catholic Academy Foundation, 63-61.

John Urmeneta tallied 18 points for the Blue Dragons in their 104-56 smashing of Rich Golden School Montessori.

In the senior division, the National University-B Bulldogs prevailed over the Mapua University Cardinals, 93-89, to claim their first win in two games.

La Consolacion College tripped the Letran Knights, 97-70, in another collegiate encounter.
