Philippines to host Mr. World 2018

The Miss World Organization (MWO) officially announced the Mr. World 2018 pageant be held in Manila on Jan. 27, 2019 in cooperation with the Miss World Philippines Organization. 

MWO chairperson Julia Morley was represented by Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar, Mr. World 2016 Rohit Khandewal, and Mr. World chairman Stephen Morley, who said in the press conference that it’s going to be the biggest pageant Mr. World and will attract 100 plus countries.

Chhillar, who won her country’s 6th Miss World crown after 17 years, followed on her compatriot, Rohit Khandelwal’s win at Mr World 2016 in United Kingdom.  The Bengaluru-Delhi native, who is turning 21 on May 14, is a trained Indian classical dancer and currently a student of medicine at Bhagat Phool Singh Medical College for Women. Chhillar’s visit to the country continued the line of past Miss World winners, Alexandria Mills, Rolene Strauss, Mireia Lalaguna and Stephanie Del Valle, who attended charities assembled by the MWO foundation in Manila. She aims to be a cardiac surgeon and wants to open a chain of non-profitable hospitals based in rural areas.

Chhillar was welcomed at the launching by reigning Miss World Philippines 2017 queens led by Miss World Philippines Laura Lehmann and met dozens of press people at Marriot Hotel in Resorts World Manila. 

Mr World, a biennial male pageant established in 1996 and now on its 10th edition, is dubbed the Search for the “World’s Most Desirable Man” and features a series of preliminary fast track events which include Fashion & Style, Extreme Challenge, Multi-Media Award, Sports Challenge and Talent Competition.  

The Miss World Philippines Organization, led by its national director Arnold Vegafria, has also launched the first Mr. World Philippines 2018 pageant to select a man to represent the Philippine in this year’s Mr. World as well as the winner of Mr Eco Philippines 2018. Sam Ajdani was handpicked and represented the country in Mr. World 2016 held in Southport, England.
