BPI Foundation teams up with consultancy enterprise YGOAL, Inc. and the Department of Education to launch the first year of BPI Senior High Acceleration Program for Employment and Entrepreneurship.

The project aims to boost competencies and create a conducive environment for senior high school students to go to work, start a business, or go to college.

BPI Foundation and YGOAL, Inc. designed the first BPI SHAPE to respond to current gaps such as capacity building for teachers, module development, student career readiness, and private sector awareness on internship and hiring of K-12 graduates.

Building on the success of its pilot run in Taguig and Laguna, BPI SHAPE will now be implemented in the cities of Cagayan De Oro, Cebu, Dasmariñas, Makati, Pasay, and Roxas and in the provinces of Capiz, Ilocos Norte, Misamis Oriental, and Quezon.

For its first year, the program will provide Values-Driven and Skills Development Entrepreneurship and Financial Management modules, teachers training sessions on the usage of the modules, online resources, digital professional development sessions, and private sector mapping. The mapping aims to secure company partners for internship and/or eventual hiring of senior high school graduates. This is done through a partnership with Ayala Business Clubs, JCI, and Rotary.

For its second year, BPI SHAPE will conduct Social Mobilization Workshops for school heads and coordinators, crowd funding, internship matching through Internship Philippines (www.internshipph.org), a website that matches interns and companies, and a Business and Academic Fair as the culminating activity. In-depth monitoring and evaluation will be done routinely throughout project implementation.

Since BPI SHAPE’s pilot run in 2016, it has already trained 153 teachers from Taguig-Laguna DepEd divisions and provided work immersion opportunities to 50 senior high schools. This 2018, the project aims to reach 204 schools, 816 teachers, and 12,200 students.
