Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez is confident the Philippines will improve its ranking in the 2019 Doing Business Survey following the implementation of business reforms.

“We already succeeded in eliminating bottlenecks and streamlining procedures. The challenge now is how to fully implement automation and interconnectivity at all levels of government,” he said.

Lopez, during a meeting with World Bank and International Finance Corp. Doing Business topic team leaders Nadine Abi Chakra and Nuno Filipe Mendes Dos Santos, cited a number of reforms the Philippines was implementing.

He cited the registration system of the Securities and Exchange Commission, an online registration for corporations that automate the procedures of registering a firm.

Another is the Single Window Transaction Project of the Bureau of Internal Revenue that makes it easier for an applicant to submit requirements and get a certification of registration and authority printed.
