THREE Filipino boxers led by Cris Laurente advanced to the quarterfinals of the Asian Youth Boxing Championships after the second round last Sunday in Bangkok, Thailand.
Laurente won by referee-stopped-contest decision after the third round of his bout with Turkmenistan’s Yhlas Gylchjanov in the light flyweight division.
Born and raised General Santos City, Laurente made it with his elder brother Criztian Pitt, who dominated Afghan bet Hassibulah Ahmadiwith via unanimous decision.
Leyte bet Milenino Anduyan shut out Korean Jihoon Jung in the 52-kg flyweight action.
The younger Laurente advanced to the quarterfinals against Barun Shagolsem Singh of India, while the elder Criztian meets Non Bang of Cambodia. Anduyan clashes with Sam and Ar Kholmorudov of Uzbekistan. Peter Atencio
