Duterte stands as godfather to Faeldon’s son

HOW close really is former Bureau of Customs chief Nicanor Faeldon to President Rodrigo Duterte?

Well, not only was he appointed as Office of Civilian Defense deputy administrator while still in detention at the height of the controversy he faced at the Senate, the President even consented to be one of the godfathers of Faeldon’s months-old son Abram from Jelina Magsuci during the child’s baptism last April 18 at the Camp Emilio Aguinaldo in Quezon City.

Aside from the President, Cabinet members who stood as Abram’s godfathers are Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, Special Assistant to the President Bong Go, Presidential Adviser for Sports Dennis Uy, and Office of Civil Defense Administrator Ricardo Jalad.

Abram was born at the height of the Senate hearing on the entry of P6.4 billion worth of shabu through the Manila port.

The former Customs chief was detained at the Senate for refusing to answer the senators’ questions, and even bickered with blue ribbon committee chairman Senator Richard Gordon and was eventually transferred to the Pasay City jail.

While still in detention in December, Faeldon was appointed by Duterte to the Office of Civil Defense.

Faeldon was released in March after he made amends with Gordon.
