The Philippines has among the largest number of freelance service providers at 2 percent relative to country population. Nine out of 10 freelancers are below 40 years of age, with bias on female workers, based on the study entitled “Global Freelancer Insights Report” that included a separate result for the Philippine market.
Most of the Filipino freelancers surveyed are into data entry/internet research, virtual assistant and customer services catering to overseas base clients in the US, Australia and United Kingdom, three of the biggest clients of the Philippines.
Data also showed that 8 out of 10 Filipino freelancers were using a freelancer platform, not necessarily PayPal, although most have already signed up with PayPal as their preferred payment platform.
