CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY—Bukidnon Governor Jose Maria Zubiri is giving his all-out support to the staging of the Philippine Sports Commission-organized Indigenous People’s Games set Aug. 13 to 18 this year in their province.
PSC Commissioner Charles Raymond A. Maxey said Governor Zubiri wants to hold the IP Games during the province’s Kaamulan Festival held every March.
“Ginasuportahan nya. Bag-o lang nahuman ang ilang IP Games Kay sa festival nila ginahimo pero ang ako sked this year sa Bukidnon kay sa August pa (He is supporting the program. The province recently conducted its IP Games during the festival but our schedule in Bukidnon is in August),” the Dabawenyo commissioner said.
Maxey was joined by his executive assistant Karlo Paolo Pates and secretary Zennie Rellon, along with other members of the technical working group during the meeting with Governor Zubiri, the father of Senator Miguel Zubiri.
Details of the IP Games were also tackled during the meeting held Thursday in Bukidnon. Maxey discussed with the tribal leaders the possible games that will be played during the event, including pana (bow and arrow), tug of war and dagan (run), among others.
