MPIC’s Shore It Up to hold 3-day festival to thank stakeholders, supporters

SHORE It Up! (SIU), the environmental awareness initiative of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC), will hold a three-day event to thank its stakeholders and supporters, and celebrate its 10th year  of coastal and underwater conservation and restoration activities all over the Philippines.

To be held at The Gallery in Greenbelt 5 mall in Makati city, the event will be from March 15 to 17, and will be shored up by  talks from environmental experts on how to best protect the country’s coastal and underwater treasures. The culminating event will feature a photo contest and exhibit, an SIU t-shirt fashion show, and merchandising bazaar for SIU paraphernalia.

The event caps a series of simultaneous nationwide environmental advocacy events that kicked off last March 2 to underscore the company’s cause to rescue, restore and revive the Philippines’ seas, coastline communities and marine resources.

‘BIG DREAMS START IN SMALL STEPS.’ Photo contest finalist Lance Churchill Lipio celebrates the dreams of Siargaonon children who dream of being professional surfers.

Environmental heroes

“The event will train the spotlight on the heroic efforts of thousands of volunteers patrons, sponsors and local government units, who continue to make this program a success,” said Melody Del Rosario, president of the Metro Pacific Investment Foundation (MPIF).

Alongside coastal and underwater clean-up campaigns, SIU and its partner LGUs carried out activities like mangrove planting, runs for the mangroves, poster-making contests, seminars and forums to makeweight to SIU’s holistic take to promoting environmental awareness.
