The Manila International Airport Authority distributed relief goods and conducted a medical mission, including free haircuts, to some 1,500 families affected by the eruption of Mayon Volcano on Saturday in Anislag, Daraga, Albay, one of the evacuation sites.

MIAA general manager Ed Monreal and other officials took the opportunity to distribute four kilos of rice, two gallons of distilled water, five pieces of assorted canned goods, one blanket and a mat including a plastic pail to each of the families affected, a statement released Monday by the agency said.

Monreal said the relief distribution and medical mission was part of the 36th year anniversary of MIAA in partnership with Air 21, Cargohaus, Philippine Army, Manila Chinatown, Lionsclub, Radio Emergency Communication Operations Network Philippines Inc., and other local government units.

The event is also part of MIAA’s corporate social responsibility in line with its anniversary, he added.

Monreal said some 6,000 kilos of rice, 3,000 gallons of distilled water, 7,500 pieces of assorted canned goods, 1,500 blankets, 1,500 mats and 1,500 plastic pails were loaded in two Air 21 delivery trucks that left Friday afternoon for Anislag.
