Demonstrators who are fighting the mining operations in Zambales have trooped to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Quezon City today.

They are seeking an end to the mining activities of huge corporations in Santa Cruz town.

The protesters are residents who are asking the DENR to revoke the mining permits of mine operators.

They say, the large-scale miners who are extracting nickel have brought irreversible environmental degradation and destruction to the province.

Website 'Environmental Justice Atlas' identifies the four mining companies in the municipality.
