Cam joins PCSO board

WHISTLEBLOWER Sandra Cam said Wednesday she is joining the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office as a member of its board.

Cam, a former senatorial candidate, took her oath before President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday afternoon.

“The President had given me his trust. I’ve been working so hard to help the less fortunate and the migrant Filipino workers,” Cam told reporters in a chance interview.

“This is not a political position, but give me three months and I will prove that my detractors are wrong.”

Joining her in the PCSO board is Bong Suntay, president of the Philippine National Taxi Operators Association.

Cam, the jueteng whistleblower, had earlier landed in the headlines after she allegedly blew her top at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in February when she was not accorded the VIP treatment she had expected.

She even boasted about her anticipated appointment to a Cabinet post and her connections to Special Assistant to the President Christopher Go, but she denied this.

Also taking his oath is former Presidential Spokesman Ernesto Abella who was sworn in as undersecretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs.

Abella was a businessman, writer and former evangelist before he was appointed as a presidential spokesman.

Duterte had been tightlipped about his decision to replace Abella with law professor Harry Roque as his mouthpiece, only saying that it was a “personal decision.”
