National Teachers’ Month is celebrated from Sept. 5 to Oct. 5.

In another development, the 36-member city council backed the construction of a wet and dry market in Barangay San Antonio. It passed City Resolution SP-7155, authorizing the certificate of exception to Bennet Melencio and allowing deviation from the restriction of the Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance.

The resolution, introduced by Councilor Anthony Peter ‘Onyx’ Crisologo, supports the construction of the wet and dry market. The residents and council of Barangay San Antonio expressed no objections to its construction.

The Quezon City Planning and Development Office identified the area of construction as High Density Residential Zone (R-3), which is not permitted according to Article 5 of the Quezon City Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance.

“The proposed project will not adversely affect the public health, safety and welfare and in keeping with the general pattern of development in community, and shall support economic-based activities and provide livelihood, vital community services and facilities,” the resolution reads.

Melencio has complied with the requirements prescribed by law, ordinance or administrative issuances.

“In accordance with the provisions of City Ordinance SP-918, S-2000, as amended, and its Implementing Rules and Regulations, an exception is required for projects to which the proposed project falls under,” the resolution reads.
