Magdayao sisters’ Ystilo counts 19 years in beauty business

Sisters Shaina, Vina (Morales), Sheila, and Sheryl Magdayao are celebrating their beauty salon’s 19 years in the business.

The celebration will last until Sept. 30 (it started on the 8th) as a way of thanking the salon’s loyal patrons.

Ystilo offers 50 percent off on its Premium Services and Hair Treatment, like Hair Rebond, Hair Color, Kera Glaze, Aroma Hair, Remedy/Ultrasonic Iron and Keratin Treatment. This is available at all Ystilo Salon branches.

Sisters Vina and Sheila put up the first Ystilo on Aug. 8, 1999 in Fairview. The two have been the hands behind the business. Eventually, younger sister Shaina joined her older sisters in the business.

Says Shaina, “So from the very beginning, ‘yung passion nila, they turned it into business kasi nga puro babae kami, so lahat mahilig magpa-hot oil, magpa-masahe, magpa-foot spa. So ‘yung passion nila, ginamit nila iyon and I guess hindi nila in-expect na magbo-boom, pero nu’ng nag-boom, they took the opportunity, they grabbed the opportunity and nag-aral sila ate ng haircut.

“Oo magaling sila, si ate Sheila ang magaling mag haircut, si ate Vina, I’m not so sure kung nag-aral din siya but you know gaya ng lahat ng nangyayari sa mundo ay nage-evolve and one thing na nakikita ko sa Ystilo ay nage-evolve siya.”

Ystilo’s vision is to offer good and quality service to its clients. “And our mission is to be the leader in the salon industry by providing the trendiest and updated hairstyles, providing reasonably priced products and offering excellent customer service,” she explained.

The Magdayao sisters have a total of 500 employees in 25 branches, all company owned. Since Shaina has no time to acquire a franchise due to her commitments in show business, her investment is in the company owned salons.

Shaina is also very busy with her own personal businesses, which she’d rather not talk about now.

Sheila, Ystilo Salon’s COO, said some of the salon’s franchisees closed their branches after recouping their investment.

According to the eldest Magdayao, there are still inquiries on how to acquire a franchise, but they are no longer entertaining them for safety and health reasons that they’d rather not mention.
