An alternate route going to and from Mindanao State University (MSU) in Marawi City has been opened.
Joint Task Force Ranao Commander Brigadier General Ramiro Rey said the main entrance to the university campus has been temporarily closed.
Rey said the measures are being done for the safety of teachers, students and residents.
These developments come, following the death of a Civil Service Commission employee Marvin Ablando at 9:50 am on Thursday.
Ablando and his co-worker Sandra Arnica Usman were inside a car near the gate of MSU's main entrance when a .50 caliber bullet hit him in the head.
The same bullet grazed Usman's head.
MSU opened last month under heavy security amid fighting between the military and the Maute terrorists.
