Airstrikes target areas near Lake Lanao in Marawi

The airstrikes of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Monday are targeting areas near Lake Lanao.

The military says, Maute terrorists ride small boats and cross the lake to escape Marawi City.

Bombs were dropped and heavy smoke is billowing from these battle zones.

Aside from the military, the Philippine Coast Guard and the PNP Maritime Group are joining the operations in Lake Lanao.

On Friday last week, government forces were able to regain control of Bayabao bridge.

It is one of the three bridges that lead to the center of Marawi.

3 soldiers were killed and 52 were wounded in this mission.
