Cayamora Maute, the father of Maute brothers who led the rebellion in Marawi City, has been laid to rest.

His remains were buried on Monday in a muslim cemetery in Norzagaray, Bulacan.

Cayamora died at past 3 pm on Sunday.

Earlier, he had complained of difficulty in breathing and weakness.

His blood pressure shot up.

He was taken to Taguig-Pateros District Hospital.

He had long been suffering from hepatitis, diabetes, pneumonia and hypertension.

On Sunday night, his family was given a time for viewing his remains.

Cayamora's body was also brought to the Golden Mosque in Quiapo, Manila.

The 67-year old Maute was arrested on June 6, 2017 in Davao City and had since been detained at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City.

He reportedly gave funding and logistical support to back the terrorist activities of his sons Omar and Abdullah.
