RESURGENT Letran seeks to extend its streak to four and keep its hold on third spot as it clashes with an unpredictable San Sebastian College today in the 93rd NCAA basketball tournament at the Filoil Arena in San Juan City.

Relying on Bong Quinto’s endgame heroics, the Knights came back from a late deficit to turn back the Perpetual Help Altas, 63-61, Friday and post its third straight win and fourth overall in seven outings.

Another win today in their 4 p.m. duel with the Stags will keep the former at their lofty perch.

Lyceum of the Philippines University leads the way with a pristine 7-0 (win-loss) mark, while defending champion San Beda College is at No. 2 with a 6-1 mark.

San Sebastian College is also on a streak, posting its second win in a row at the expense of hapless College of St. Benilde, 101-71, Friday to improve to 3-3.

Letran coach Jeff Napa expects a tough game from the Stags, who like to run.

“San Sebastian is a physical team and likes to really run, so it’s going to be tough,” said Napa.

Arellano University and Perpetual Help, which both hold 2-4 records, take on each other at 12 noon.

Emilio Aguinaldo College, for its part, seeks to bounce back from a heartbreaking 93-97 defeat to Letran Thursday as it tangles with Jose Rizal at 2 p.m.

The Generals, who lost Cameroonian Hamadou Laminou to a season-ending ACL injury, had the chance to steal the win from the Knights, but blew it in the end, sending them skidding to their third defeat against the same number of triumphs.
