The Department of Public Works and Highways said it secured a $70-million assistance from the Chinese government to finance the construction of two bridges in Metro Manila.
“The Chinese government gave us a grant worth $70 million to create two bridges in Metro Manila,” Public Works Secretary Mark Villar told reporters.
Villar said the grant would cover the design and construction of the bridges while the DPWH would be responsible for the acquisition of its road right-of-way.
The construction of state-of-the-art Binondo-Intramuros amounts to P4.61 billion, while the Estrella-Pantelon Bridges in Makati is worth P1.37 billion.
Villar said the two projects would be completed before the end of the term of President Rodrigo Duterte.
