“I’m eager to work with the athletes and coaches on fitness and conditioning, and share my coaching expertise on the game,” said Theus.

When asked what lured him to join the annual clinic, the two-time NBA All-Star was quick to say that it was the passion Filipinos have for basketball that he’d always heard of.

The Gatorade NBA Training Center is an exclusive basketball clinic with invitations extended only to select college basketball athletes and coaches resulting in its elite clientele.

The Gatorade NBA Training Center is a part of NBA FIT which is a health and wellness platform that encourages healthy lifestyles while also promoting the values of the games through its three-point advocacy, “Be Active, Eat Healthy and Play Together.”

This year’s event, held last Thursday (July 20) at the Gatorade Hoops Center in Mandaluyong City, commemorates its fourth consecutive year of imparting invaluable insight into the sport through discussions and live exhibitions centered around game mechanics as well as fitness. With NBA’s partnership with Gatorade, the event also added proper nutrition and hydration into the mix.

“As the world leader in sports hydration, Gatorade will always actively support initiatives to empower the Philippines’ next generation of basketball superstars,” said PepsiCo Philippines Marketing Manager for Hydration, Tony Atayde.

PepsiCo is the current manufacturer of Gatorade.

“We’re grateful to work with NBA on this campaign, and we look forward to spreading our message of hydration to more athletes nationwide,” Atayde added.
