Duterte determined to go to Marawi City during time of conflict

President Rodrigo Duterte vows to visit Marawi City while clashes between government forces and the Maute group are ongoing.

He promises he will go there while “troops are still in battle.”

Bad weather has been preventing the Commander in Chief from heading to Marawi City.

His latest attempt to make the trip was last Friday but the plan was cancelled once again due to heavy rains.

During the 120th founding anniversary of the Presidential Security Group on June 28, the President admitted he was deeply bothered by the sufferings that the people of Marawi City go through and the lives of soldiers being lost each day as they fight the Maute terrorists.

“More than anybody else, I am the one hurting. I really wallow in sorrow because I gave the order to go there and fight. That is the moral burden that I carry all day and all night, to tell you the truth,” the President shared.
