SM farmers’ program holds successive festivals

The Farmers’ Training Program (Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan or KSK) of SM Foundation has continually benefitted the marginalized urban dwellers and small vegetable farmers in rural areas.

The program was recently launched in succession in Pasig; San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan; and Gapan, Nueva Ecija. After a season-long training, the participants are now equipped with the techniques to improve the quality of their crops and increase their yield.

Participants of the Urban Farmers’ Training Program in Pasig City showed off a bountiful harvest as they completed their training. Another harvest festival was held In Barangay Malinao by the trainees that included 4Ps beneficiaries. SM Foundation’s program partner in this endeavor was MacPlas Academy.

In Barangay Kaypian, San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan, 200 participants of the KSK training program also held the harvest festival prior to their graduation ceremony. In Barangay Pambuan, Gapan, 172 participants finished the training ahead of their own festival.

Among those present during the graduation at Gapan were Chito Macapagal, Head of SM Corporate Affairs and SM Foundation Trustee; SMFI AVP for Outreach and Livelihood Programs Cristie Angeles; Harbest Agribusiness Corp. President Toto Barcelona; SM City Cabanatuan Mall Manager Mark Herrera; and SM Cabanatuan Supermarket Store Manager Donna Mallari.
