ILAGAN, Isabela—Health Secretary Paulyn Jean B. Ubial surprised city officials and residents when she personally attended the ceremonial opening of a drug rehabilitation facility here on Tuesday.
While Ilagueños believe that sports is the No. 1 antidote to the drug menace, city officials realized there is still a need to provide rehabilitation to those who are already victims of addiction.
The city has spent millions to promote athletics by building a multimillion-peso sports complex and supporting the “sports track” in high school education. Mayor Evelyn C. Diaz also worked hard to bring international competitions here recently.
“The newly opened Treatment Rehabilitation Center is a partnership between the City Government of Ilagan and the Department of Health. The space where the building stands was provided by the city government, including a one-kilometer paved access road,” city information officer Paul Bacungan revealed.
